When to book a car hire in Morocco
A few days ahead is usually enough outside peak periods. For Easter, July and August, Christmas and New Year, and for our only automatic car, the Dacia Duster, book two to four weeks ahead. Our public prices do not change with the season; availability does. A 30 % deposit confirms the booking and cancellation is free up to 48 hours before pick-up.
How much does a car hire in Morocco cost per day?
Our cars start at €35 per day (Dacia Sandero, Dacia Logan), €40 for a Renault Clio 5, Peugeot 208 or Opel Corsa, and €45 for an automatic Dacia Duster, comprehensive insurance included. Delivery anywhere in Marrakech is free. Weekly rentals get a lower daily rate, and a monthly rental of the Renault Clio 5 costs €650.
Do I need an international driving permit to drive in Morocco?
No, for a tourist stay with a licence printed in Latin characters: EU, UK, US, Canadian, Swiss and most other licences are accepted as they are. Licences in another script need an international permit or a certified translation.
Driving in Morocco: what you need to know
Traffic drives on the right and seat belts are compulsory for all passengers. In Marrakech, expect large roundabouts, many scooters and attendants in blue coats who manage street parking; the Medina is closed to cars, so you park at the gates and walk in. Between cities, the roads to Essaouira, Agadir, Casablanca and Ouarzazate are tarmac and a normal car is enough. Police checkpoints at town entrances are routine: slow down, and keep your licence and rental contract at hand. Avoid country roads at night. Can I pick up a car and return it in a different location?
Yes. Pick-up and return in Marrakech and at Marrakech Menara Airport are free. Delivery or return in Casablanca, Agadir or Essaouira (city or airport) costs €120 per transfer.
What documents are required to hire a car in Morocco?
A valid driving licence for each driver (no international permit needed), a passport or national ID card, and a payment card or cash for the rental and the refundable deposit of €800. Drivers must be at least 21 years old. Each rental day includes 200 km. See our rental conditions.
What are the speed limits in Morocco?
